Artist Statement

As an art student, I am in the process of re-discovering who I am as an artist and putting it into practice. Small steps at a time. After many experimental moments in my art in the last year, I started to write down my notes of inspiration again for both my life and my art. I have found that the common themes were "Colorful", "Joyful", "Wholesome", "Goofy", "Magical", and "Whimsical". I had many inspirations growing up, fitting these themes perfectly such as Studio Ghibli movies, Disney movies, Impressionism, cozy farming games, fantasy, stones, childhood imagination, and daydreaming. After these new, though familiar, discoveries, I will be putting them into practice. From the recent scare of A.I Art, I have recently gone back to the traditional mediums, such as colored pencils, graphic pencils, pens, and Copic markers. I do want to try out gouache paint as the next possible medium to my list. As an artist whose main medium is digital through programs like Procreate and Adobe Fresco, I have been making attempts to make my digital artwork look more "traditional."My reason for making art is to create a colorful, joyful, wholesome atmosphere to give myself and others a sense of cozy. A place to relax and breathe in the fresh air.
